The work of the Historic Towns and Villages Forum takes many forms, from events with talks, visits and workshops, to undertaking primary research into issues associated with managing change in historic places. These are all designed to examine preconceptions about the definition of heritage and its significance, the management of historic places seeing change and growth, and the role of historic places in the national and local economies, and bringing this to wider audiences – public and professional.
