Community-led developments in North Yorkshire: Hudswell visit

Saturday 21 September 2024
Hudswell, North Yorkshire
11am-3pm

This visit is designed to find out more about developments in the village of Hudswell, near Richmond in North Yorkshire, where several community-run projects are underway. We will visit St Michael’s, a redundant church which is in the process of being converted into a hostel; nearby new community eco-homes; and The George & Dragon pub, which is in community ownership. In the afternoon there will be a discussion session and further information on the different developments, which might provide inspiration for community groups in other places. Four local groups are involved in developments: Hudswell Parish Council, Hudswell Community Charity, Hudswell Community Pub Ltd and Hudswell Village Hall. Representatives of these groups will spend time with us to explain how they have undertaken the development and to share lessons learned.

Booking on Eventbrite is required. This is a free event as the programme has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the HTVF’s ‘Reaching rural communities: the value of heritage assets for social, environmental and economic well-being’ series. Lunch is not included in the event ticket.
